Trey was born an Air Force brat in Laredo, Texas, and the world is his home.  After graduating high school from Clarke Air Force Base in the Philippines, he attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, graduating with a degree in Computer Science. Trey served in the US Navy as a Fighter Pilot for more than 25 years, accumulating over 4,000 flight hours and 800 carrier landings in the F/A-18 Hornet. He commanded the VFA-34 Blue Blasters and the Navy's largest tactical fighter squadron, VFA-106, at NAS Ocean, Virginia.

In 2012, in partnership with his longtime friend and fellow Naval Aviator, Ben Hewlett, Trey founded Lawn-Aid, a small landscape company which he grew into a multi-crew, commercial and residential company specializing in both lawn maintenance and hardscape installations. After the Earthscapes/Lawn-Aid merger, Trey assumed duties as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer. Trey has a Masters of Science in Administration (MSA) from Central Michigan University.
